Health Care: As Possible Repeal Looms A Look Back at the “Mackey Plan”

Call me an optimist but I like to think that bad laws can be repealed. I am hoping that the health care “reform” bill is one of those bills that is repealed.

The Democrats insist that no one else had even the inkling of a plan. Hah! I’ve seen four or five without looking very hard. So, if repeal is even a possibility, it is time to start looking at what we want to have to replace the current mess.

This is the John Mackey plan. He is th co-founder of Whole Foods and “wandered off the reservation” in proposing it.

Some of his customers were so incensed at his having an independent thought that they tried a boycott. I think they are all happily back to browsing his salad bars, as if they didn’t attack him, his motives and his very soul loudly and viciously.

So, let’s start here and begin looking at what we actually want. I’d like to end with a thank-you to Mr. Mackey for bucking the lunatics and actually trying the advance the debate.

PS:  Here is a choice quote, what were they so upset about?

“Health-care reform is very important. Whatever reforms are enacted it is essential that they be financially responsible, and that we have the freedom to choose doctors and the health-care services that best suit our own unique set of lifestyle choices. We are all responsible for our own lives and our own health. We should take that responsibility very seriously and use our freedom to make wise lifestyle choices that will protect our health. Doing so will enrich our lives and will help create a vibrant and sustainable American society.”
