I’m not really sure who actually supports Mitt Romney and why they do so. To me he is an “anybody but” candidate who is not liberal enough for “them” and not conservative enough for “us.” He seems to be a bit more conservative then the current crowd in some areas, but pretty darn statist in most ways. Michelle Malkin, for example, doesn’t have much good to say about him.
I would be a lot more comfortable with him if he would renounce his past views and become a conservative. How unlikely is that? Well, Barack Obama managed to “run to the center-right” during the campaign, while all the while signalling he had not changed a single spot on his leopard leisure suit. So, Romney may be able to make the necessary noises, but how much can he be believed?
The actual primaries may well be pretty surprising, if Herman Cain continues to surge. His 9-9-9 plan may be imperfect but it is at least a plan.
Meanwhile, many of the most critical economic issues aren’t even being discussed. Not Good. We don’t have a lot of time left for dog and pony shows.
